The excursion begins either from the main port of Santorini, Athinios or from the picturesque Old port of Santorini. The Old Port is only accessible by cable car, which is the most common way as it takes only 3 minutes to go down, otherwise, you have to descend 587 steps on foot.
Important note: You need to pay an additional fee of 6 € per trip for the cable car ride.
Gialos, the Old Port, lies below Fira, nestled at the foot of a rocky cliff. The steep slopes of the Caldera will leave you amazed as you catch a glimpse of the tiny port nestled beneath towering rocks and seemingly suspended cave houses. Upon arrival, your excursion guides will be waiting to provide you with important information and lead you to the boat. For any additional information or clarifications, please do not hesitate to visit our travel agency, Santo Star Travel, located at the port.
Our first destination will be the famous volcano of Santorini! After sailing for 20 minutes, we will reach Nea Kammeni’s jetty. Should you be interested to be guided to the volcano, you have to pay 5 € per person as an entrance fee. Afterward, you will walk to the volcano’s ridge with your guide who is going to explain everything there is, about the history and the geology of the volcano. You will stay at the volcanic island for 1.5 hours and, after that, you will embark again for the next stop.
Our next stop will be the island of Palaia Kammeni, where the famous hot springs are located on the west side, a place that is really popular for its thermal waters. We will stop there for 30 minutes at a distance of 30 meters from the shallow waters of Agios Nicholaos Beach where you will have to swim that distance (30m) to reach the springs. Take a dive off the boat and feel the warmth of these extraordinary waters. The waters are also full of sulfur, iron, and other metals coming from the volcano and they are very good for the skin, rheumatism, arthritis, and other physical aches.
Important Note: In order to reach Agios Nikolaos Beach, it is essential to know how to swim extremely well.
Sailing above the underwater craters from Palaia Kammeni to Therasia Island, the boat will anchor close to the island in order to allow you to enjoy your dinner. Our experienced staff will prepare everything for you so all you need to do is relax and enjoy our Greek delicious buffet while capturing amazing photos of the Aegean Sea.
The end of the excursion comes at sunset time. Aphrodite sets sail and the sun dives into the sea in the northernmost part of the island. Our boat will stop below Oia village where you will have the chance to watch the warm light of the setting sun under the violet sky before the night falls. This is the most unforgettable experience as the Caldera and the village of Oia turn into gold colors. Your trip with Aphrodite in this sanctuary of romance is going to be in your memories and your hearts forever!
I am so glad we booked this tour. It is the stand-out moment of our Santorini visit. The whole thing was excellently done from efficient booking system, helpful staff in the port office, right through to easy disembarkation. Cesaer, our gude, was great; huge fun and full of riveting information. The tour started fast and furious with an amazing hike round the volcano, an extraordinary swim to the sulphuric springs and another coolling swim by which time we were super-relaxed and ready for a truly lovely dinner. The sunset itself was amazing and the party atmosphere on board the 'Aphrodite' even got my self-conscious 19-year-old dancing(!) Highly recommended
This sunset cruise was worth every euro. The boat looked like a pirate ship. Our guide, Sparos (apologies if I spelled his name wrong) was such a good story teller and truly made the trip even more special. We didn't realize that the hike on the volcano would include our guide telling us the history, myth, and facts about Santorini and the volcano but it was fascinating, a beautiful view, and a nice addition. It was refreshing to jump off the boat and swim in the water. They provided noodles but you definitely need to be a decent swimmer to swim against the current. Because the cold ocean water mixes with the hot springs they felt more warm but it was still really enjoyable (I recommend wearing water shoes as the ground was pretty rocky). We got a really cool view of Oia and Thirassia. The food was delicious! Absolutely loved the chicken. The wine was okay. After the food, our guide taught us a Greek dance and that was really fun and unexpected. The sunset was gorgeous! They had music playing and they put some of the sails down during it to set the ambience. The transfer was helpful and it was nice not having to rely on the bus schedule. One thing I would've liked is if they had lockers for us to put our stuff in when we were swimming. This is a must do and worth an extra day to do it!
We very much enjoyed sailing on the Aphrodite and particularly liked the hot spring stop for swimming. The dinner on board before sunset was simple but great.
We bought this tour as a honeymoon gift. The couple said it was a fantastic day out. The sunset was amazing and they had a great day. They said it was nice to receive a gift that they wouldn't normally think of booking themselves
Relaxing and informative really pleased we went , A great experience!
