Well worth the trip
We had a driver who picked us up for the trip and another who took us back - both were great. There was only 1 other pick-up we had to do, so not too much of a diversion. Plus we saw a bit more of the island. We stopped at "a place to take some photos" the driver said. . . . It was on top of the cliffs overlooking the whole sea !!! The Church of the Prophet Ellas. Spectacular! People walk past here on their hike to Oia, so it was an experience I would otherwise never have had. Then to Oia, where you get a good 4 hours to wander, eat and finally take in the famous sunset. Magical - everyone goes quiet. Then we all clapped and cheered when the sun disappeared. "We did it" We made our way back to our meeting point taking yet more photos as now Oia is lit up and looks equally amazing. We were quite tired at this point so we were glad we only had 1 other drop off. As getting from Kamari to Perissa means going up and around the mountain, and down again. The plus point - we saw Pyrgos lit up at night. Although only 5 hours (we did 3-8, as October) it was a great experience, and we're so glad we did it. Great value - fully recommend. And the travel operators are a great team. , Wonderful experience!
