About
The Cave of Nikolas has been serving in Santorini, at Akrotiri Beach by the sea, since 1967. It is a family-primarily seafood restaurant with much passion and desire for quality homemade food. Providing customers with amazing Greek taste, traditional delicate fresh fish flavors, and quality meat options. The name of the restaurant came from the owner’s idea to build a cave and make it the most amazing dining experience! All of their products are carefully selected every day from their farm, and the fish is freshly caught daily.
The inviting atmosphere and the attentive, friendly staff will also contribute to ensuring you an enjoyable taste adventure! You will have some special moments with your family or your friends, while you are drinking one of the local Santorinian wines and drinks. The Cave of Nikolas is the best place to admire the picturesque sunset. Take time to watch the setting sun, to see the colors change that will become one with the sea! It is definitely a place to see and be seen!

We made an online reservation before going. It was a different process than I'm used to - where we needed to ask permission for a day and time and then wait until we get a confirmation - but it went relatively smoothly. We were a little disappointed with the food, but it is partly on us, as we didn't ask questions about the meals. We had cheese (sheep milk I believe) that they make. Both my husband and I love cheese, but it was too salty and very strong. It did not come with any bread, which made it quite difficult to eat. We could not finish that dish. We had the tomato balls with fish. They were said to be the best tomato balls in Santorini (as per their menu). However, they were quite disappointing. They were not crispy, they felt soggy and uncooked, and they didn't taste anything. We couldn't taste the tomatoes nor the fish. Lastly, we had the stuffed calamari. It was good. However, there were pieces of shrimp inside, and the shrimps were separated from their tail and the tails were in the mixture inside the calamari. Quite surprising to eat. Otherwise, that dish was good. Overall, I would not recommend the dish we ate, but I'm certain they have other dishes that are good.
A traditional family-run cavern in a small bay which you can't miss. The food is delicious. We went there four times during our one-week stay. Don't hesitate to try their mixed appetisers, which lets you try out all the variety of their specialties including the fava, their tomato balls, but also their cheese, made by the owner himself. Otherwise, the fish is perfectly prepared, the house wine very pleasant and the staff are friendly.
We were there in 2022 and everyone and everything was amazing. Nikolas was sweet, he gave me a lovely bottle of his own sweet wine. He also played and sang for us. Amazing time was had by all.
Highly recommend!! We came for lunch and got a table right by the water. Amazing views and delicious, fresh food. A lot of their dishes are made with local ingredients, with a lot of things being grown in their farm. They also had good options for gluten-free.
