Renowned for its vibrant environment, clear waters, and beautiful black sand, Perivolos has the ideal balance of leisure and action, making it the perfect destination for all types of travelers.
This beach extends over the big and spacious area between Perissa and Agios Georgios. The characteristic black volcanic sand of Perivolos gives the beach a particular style, while it is also a perfect spot for families and young people because there is a great balance between a vivid atmosphere and a relaxed charm.
The beach is highly organized, with sunbeds and umbrellas available, along with other amenities, such as stylish beach clubs and bars lining the coast.
Perivolos Beach offers a very nice variety of dining and entertainment options, fitting for all tastes and preferences. Whether you are in the mood for the best Mediterranean cuisine, tasting fresh Greek dishes made with local products, or just wanting to have a quick snack while enjoying the sun, you will find a great variety of restaurants, cafes, and beach bars, especially for those who like a more vivid, loud & cheerful atmosphere, with comfortable sunbeds and big umbrellas protecting you from the sun.
Watersport lovers will also find nirvana at Perivolos, which offers a wide variety of activities set against a breathtaking backdrop of volcanic sand and crystal-clear waters. While lounging on the beach, visitors can partake in thrilling activities like jet skiing, parasailing, paddleboarding, or crazy squab.
Both beginners and experts will find the mild waves as a perfect opportunity for some adrenaline boost. You will find numerous rental shops there, which provide equipment and lessons.
If you would rather see Perivolos Beach on a tour, you can take a Shared or Private bus tour and explore all the famous spots. Amongst the most popular sights, these tours also cover Ancient Thera, Oia, Fira, and many more. However, in Private tours, you are free to customize the itinerary according to your preference!
The best time to visit Perivolos Beach is either early in the morning, between 8 AM and 11 AM, so that there are fewer crowds, and a rather quiet and calm atmosphere, ideal for a swim and quiet walks, or late in the afternoon, from 5 PM until sunset, where crowds are thinned out, the temperature is cooler, and the colors of the setting sun are spectacular.
If one prefers a more vibrant atmosphere with more activity, then afternoon hours, from 12 PM to 4 PM, are at their peak and it is best for visiting beach bars as well as practicing water sports.
Reaching Perivolos Beach is convenient, whether you are coming from the main town of Fira or even other parts of the island. More specifically, the beach is easily accessible by car. It takes about 25 minutes to drive from Fira to Perivolos, although traffic is a major factor.
Furthermore, there is a very large parking area near the beach, and even on the most crowded days, due to the length of the shoreline, there are always available spots. You'll be better off arriving early in the day for a nice spot, though, if you're visiting the beach in the busiest travel seasons-which are July and August.
The local public bus is another excellent choice; it's economical and effective. For this route, buses operate regularly and with a travel time of about 30 minutes. Last but not least, you can always book a private transfer to get you to Perivolos in a more upscale style.
This unique beach is more than just a beautiful spot in Santorini, it’s a hub of activity, relaxation & cultural exploration. Everyone may find something to enjoy at Perivolos, whether they want to explore the island's history, relax on the beach, or participate in exciting water sports.
