Vothonas is a small village, located at the center of the island, just 5 kilometers away from the town of Fira, the capital of Santorini, and very close to Messaria village. The whole settlement includes wonderful family-owned hotels and small cave houses of traditional architecture, built cleverly on a large ravine and literally carved out of volcanic rocks. A stroll around the narrow alleys of the village will give the chance to people who stay there, to admire these beautiful buildings, as well as set eyes on the several Blue-domed churches and chapels of the village, which are a perfect addition to its wonderful setting.
What is more, the village holds an impressive Wine Museum, built in a cave 6 meters below the ground, where one can wander at, and get useful information about the history and the process of wine-making in Santorini!

Our stay in Santorini was excellent!Accommodation at Margo house made our experience even more beautiful! 🤩The house is clean, carefully decorated with local style,with all the modern comforts and facilities you could need and has perfect sea view! The whole picture is completed by the always kind, willing and available to provide assistance landlady Ms. Margo. The house is close (5' by car) to supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and an organized beach. The price-quality ratio is very good. We strongly recommend choosing your stay at Margo house! 😊
I apologize for my mistake in getting confused with another Margo Studio in Naxos. I am editing my review. Santorini is a very expensive place and I initially was going to stay in Kamari Beach, due to cost, but my preference was always to stay in Imerovigli, where my friends were staying. I was able to find Margo Houses online and booked directly through their website. I had a comfortable and pleasant stay and the location is beautiful. We can easily walk to the view of the Caldera. I would definitely stay there again.
Extremely welcoming host- ACs were on already before we enter the apartment! The lady owner carried one of our 17kg suitcases all the way uphills from the parking 🅿️ and patiently introduced the apartment on the ground floor! She even sent us a very well detailed local guidance through WhatsApp which her restaurant Mario is remarkably nice and really recommended! Lovely cave house and location- apartment is decorated surely with owner’s passion which the details are to the finest! The location is close to the local community so you see not only the Touristic side but also you live with the locals nearby.
The houses are located in a quiet area, but only a short walk from the restaurants and cafes in the centre of Vothonas. We lived in the "Queen" apartment, spacious, comfortably furnished, very clean (cleaning and new towels every 2-3 days, terrace and jacuzzi cleaned daily). If you like to cook, you can prepare everything in this kitchen, but we just enjoyed breakfast on the terrace bathed in the rising sun with a view of the sea and mountains. The hosts were very nice and helpful people. I would recommend this place to everyone, so they can enjoy a real Greek vacation.
