With roots tracing back to 1952, today this winery has taken a total transformation under the ownership of the grandson of its founder and has grown into one of the most renowned wineries in Greece. Over the years, it has earned numerous awards at prestigious competitions and proudly represents Santorini at major international wine exhibitions.
Full wine tasting at Artemis Karamolegos Winery represents a guided tour into the mystery of wine-making by the winery's specialized enologist, who will share fascinating knowledge of each wine. Taste as many as 11 great wines in the attractive winery courtyard, whose typical volcanic character will fascinate you.
Start with classic must-tries like Nykteri and Vinsanto, then explore rare varieties such as Aidani, Mavrotragano, and Pyritis, perfectly paired with delicious local specialties for an authentic experience. Culinary enthusiasts can also enjoy cooking classes in the picturesque yard, learning traditional recipes. Open year-round, the winery welcomes visitors from February to November (11:00–20:00) and December to January (11:00–17:00)
The winery's first three original labels, Santorini, Nykteri, and Vinsanto serve as the cornerstones of our winemaking heritage. The vivid minerality and sharp acidity of Assyrtiko are the epitome of its pure manifestation in Santorini. Vinsanto enthralls with its richly sweet dessert wine, nuanced flavors, and lingering finish, while Nykteri displays the full-bodied, rich character of aged Assyrtiko. Experience the timeless charm of these classic wines, which have been painstakingly produced with steadfast devotion and a profound regard for Santorini's illustrious winemaking traditions.
Artemis's expertise with Santorini vineyards and delicate vinification techniques is demonstrated by the Fine Selection series. This collection, which includes fine wines such 34, Pyritis, Mystirio, & Mavrotragano, reveals the most authentic expression of Santorini's native Assyrtiko and Mavrotragano grape varietals. Mystirio, the first skin-contact Assyrtiko ever produced in Santorini, gives this complex grape's hidden depths a special dimension.
Next to the winery, Aroma avlis food & wine restaurant is an invitation for all senses. In its venue, guests enjoy a delicious garden yard with panoramic views of the private vineyard, the lavish greenery, and the eastern coastline of Santorini. Aromatic herbs, flowers, and trees make the atmosphere inviting.
Its cuisine is inspired by Greek and Mediterranean cuisines, each creation made with fresh and local ingredients directly from the owner's fields. Nicely decorated, indoor and outdoor, the venue has a warm and sophisticated setting perfect for events and wedding receptions.
It is highly recommended that a visit to both the winery and the restaurant is well worth the experience. Completing this, of course, is the wine shop where one can take home one's favorite wines along with unique local products.
In just a few years, Artemis Karamolegos Winery has grown into one of Greece's most dynamic and successful wineries, setting a standard of excellence and innovation in the world of winemaking.
