Nestled in Megalochori village, with a view over Athinios, Santorini's main port, this winery enjoys unique views of the caldera, the Aegean Sea, and the island's famous Volcano. Being the first industrial winery on Santorini, Venetsanos has a long history of wine production, shown exquisitely in the beautifully restored buildings and its characteristic architectural design.
Disposed on four different levels, Venetsanos greets its guests to discover both the history and the modern procedures of winemaking. Guided tours offer visitors a fascinating 20-minute trip through the history and facilities of the winery. At the end of the tour, it is time for wine tasting, which is offered on a magnificent terrace. Taste excellent Santorini wines, accompanied by delicious local delicacies: cheese platters, fresh salads, stuffed vine leaves, and special tomato fritters of the island.
The Venetsanos Winery produces superior wines that highlight the peculiarity terroir of the island. Its most famous wine, Assyrtiko, is known for its citrus aromas, minerality, and crisp acidity, often accompanied by an apparent salty edge. Along with Assyrtiko, the winery produces two regional white types: Aidani & Athiri, which give lightness and aromatic depth to its cuvées. Vin Santo, or Vinsanto, is a dense, complex dessert wine made from sun-dried grapes; sweet wine drinkers love it. Flavors common in this wine are almond, honey, and dried fruit.
The wines of this varied portfolio of the winery represent the quintessence of Santorini geography and heritage; its wines bear the fingerprint of volcanic soil, Mediterranean climate, and the art of vinification.
Recognized for its magic atmosphere, the Venetsanos Winery is the perfect place one would go to have a glass of wine, witnessing great moments of Santorini sunsets. It is truly fit for any special occasions-be the wedding nights, receptions, or exclusive dinners. The 250 square-meter outdoor area in the premises showcases the winery as the most appropriate background for forming unforgettable memories with your nearest and dearest.
Venetsanos Winery welcomes visitors daily from April 1 to November 14 and Monday through Saturday between November 15 and March 31-except from December 22 to January 7, when it is closed. The iconic sunset terrace is open from May 1 to October 15. Beyond Santorini, the wines of Venetsanos are exported worldwide in countries like Europe, the USA, and Canada, among others. Visitors can purchase their favorite wines directly at the winery shop.
